12-Point Drill Extension - 10"

What sets the 12-Point Drill Extension apart from our standard 10" drill extension is the 1/4” 12-point bolt at the end of the extension. This provides increased torque and purchase, making it easier to use a reamer with a socket adapter in your drill—especially useful for reaming hardwood seat blanks. Even better, it allows you to use a 1/4” socket wrench or box wrench for hand-reaming with Seat Drilling Guide, so you can sneak up on that perfect fit. Of course, you can also chuck this extension in your drill for standard drilling operations. It is both easy to use and accurate. This extension pairs beautifully with Shawn Murphy's excellent reamer, and the Lee Valley's reamer using our 1/2”-3/8” adapter.

The 12-Point Drill Extension is made from 1/2" linear shaft with straightness tolerance of 0.002" and C60 Rockwell hardness. The shaft has been drilled and tapped at one end for the 1/4” 12-point bolt. This bolt is stronger than Grade 8 bolts and less prone to rounding than hex bolts. Plus, it’s compatible with a wide range of socket sets and most box-end wrenches. If you do need a 1/4” 12-point socket, you can find them online for around $4 to $5. The bolt is secured in the shaft with red Loctite, so it’s not going anywhere. The linear shaft is then mated to a 1/2" coupler that will accepts 1/2" shanked bits and 7/16" hex shanked bits.

Other types of shanks can also be used in the drill extension with the adapter bushings we sell. These include bits that have 3/8" shanks, 5/16" hex shanks, and 1/4" hex shanks. Note - All Drill Extensions come with a flat machined on one end of the shaft. This flat is for the set-screw of the 1/2 coupler we provide with our drill extensions.
